Jay is right. There is so much closed of the marked trails at Cannock that it's not worth the journey to do them. The off piste stuff is indeed a mess and more so after yesterdays deluge and like Jay says, not helped by the absolute arse biscuits who insist on riding them and destroying them in the process. I personally don't think Stile Cop is worth a long drive (last time I was up there a lot of that was closed/in repair too).
Looks like Cannock is a no goer, I'd say.

we'll be looking at about 4 hours but depending on the route we could make it a bit longer or shorter.if marsbarman makes it. got to make it worth his while traveling

If I put that in, it gets me to Bamford train station. A total of 3hrs 52mins. Driving there not too bad, it's the driving back bit.

iv got 2 routes in mind. an 18ish mile Jacobs which feels more like 30 or mam tor ladybower that we can make as long as you like. just waiting now so we know the time scale for everyone
