haha! yeah...........I wonder if yours is as bonkers as ours? tho in this heat he's a lot less bonkers. he loves acting daft on his walks but we're careful not to let him get active or he'll overheat, in fact we always take out a squirty drink bottle of water for him in summer.

Yes she is a bit nuts but extremely well behaved thank goodness. Always take water with us too in the summer and she loves drinking from the camelback when I squeeze the end. I must point out we don't share the nozzle!

Yes, I'm with you lads - in the 31 degree midday heat, as I stood in front of a blazing furnace like BBQ my dehydration programme is in full swing. Many ice cold San Miguels have been quaffed along with a barrow load of hot and spicy burgers. It's Steormy I feel sorry for tomorrow - there's no upwind of me in a shared van for an hour I'll take a bottle of water to bed, hope it helps!

No, promise I won't mate, it's more of a general garlicky air about my person Well up and about at 4.45 - barely slept a wink due to the fact it was red hot last night and the daughter has split up with yet another boyfriend (more tears and drama) BUT it's a gorgeous morning, the birds are singing and I'm sat in my back garden having a cuppa with the dog lying snoozing at my feet before I set off and it promises to be another lovely day. See you all up there!

wow! wont forget that ride in a hurry. a brilliant route apart from the bit round ravenstonefield (think that's its name).where it seems like the landowners are trying their best to deter anyone using the bridleways. it struck me that this is like 2 different rides in one. the first half feeling like a lakes ride, high level and remote.the second half mostly more lower level with never ending singletrack.ride was supposed to start at 10.00 but hodgys rear mech gave up 50 yards in and we tried our best to get him going. he had to find a bikeshop and meet us at the furthest point to join us for the return leg. what a strong climber russel is, he's a machine! good to meet a few more faces. and a special mention for graham who must have picked one of the worst rides for trying spd's for the first time.....some brilliant comedy offs got back to the cars at 6.30 after the 7 hour ride...........brilliant day, brilliant company. i'll post some pics up when iv sorted through em.

Well I've just walked through the door at 11.40 pm ..bit of a tale to tell but that will have to wait until tomorrow ..however I didn't want the day to pass without extending my thanks to everyone ..first of all for turning up and secondly for giving the best possible medical help to my very sick rear mech this morning ..but sadly it died on the streets of.Sedbergh and nothing could be done to save it .. Also my apologies that everyone had a later than expected finish as a result of this . Great to see Glynn , & Ste again & also to meet Pez & Kirky for the first time ..really good blokes and a pleasure to ride with ..as it always is with Graham , Colin & Russell More tomorrow ..but I must now hit the sack Cheers lads for a great day ,

Neil dropped me off at home about 11.30ish... he'll get home just before midnight! Epic does not start to cover it. Glynn, none of us will forget that one in a hurry for varying reasons, certainly not me........ quite amazing only bruises really. But my hand is held high, I made one really bad decision yesterday which changed the picture of todays ride quite a bit. Not a ride to try SPD's for the first time... I can't imagine what I thought would happen... or at least not quite as many times as it did. Plonker. Pez, thank you. Glynn, Ste, Kirky, sorry I couldn't keep up. And thank you to for the all pervading air of encouragement and tolerance of the days class clown! Russell, Colin, Neil, well you've got no excuses, you've all ridden with me before..! We would have had a lot less rain, midges, and general lateness to contend with. But what a day, all that happened and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I am privileged to have ridden with ya all. I'm learning all the time from this forum place. Watch this space for further evidence....

My tale of woe ! Having totally overestimated the time it would take to get there and having picked Graham up at 7.00 am...and had a generous " comfort " break at Southwaite services on the M6 ..we still managed to roll in to Sedbergh a good hour early a 8.55 ! Still it gave us the opportunity for a cuppa at the 3 Hares Cafe ... After meeting everyone and getting the bikes ready we set off ..I didn't even get 20 yds after turning out of the car park before the bike just stopped dead in it's tracks with my rear mech embedded in the rear wheel ! This wouldn't have come as too much of a shock if I hadn't just replaced this less than 2 months ago ..after the old one had served me well for seven years ! An hour passed with everyone throwing suggestions into the mix and much fettling which included cannibalising the old mech ( which I had in the boot of the car) ..but to no avail ..it was fucked ! If this had been a team leadership course ..then everyone would have gained full marks for there help and input ..and I can't once again thank everyone too much . At worse it delayed everyone by a good hour ..but maybe served the purpose of a good " bonding " session ! A decision was made that I would try to get a new mech fitted at a bike shop ..and try to rejoin the ride at Ravenstonedale which was slightly further than the half way stage ..and gave me approx 3 hours to play with. Colin decided to join me for moral support and I don't know why we decided to take two cars when mine would have sufficed .. but we did ! Again a massive thumbs up to Wiheelbase at Staveley ..who upon hearing my tale of woe supplied and fitted a new XT mech ...and chain and had me turned around within an hour ...now THAT is what you call customer service !...They didn't take my eyes out with labour charges either ..when they could quite easily have turned my misfortune to their advantage ..The reason for my demise will be discussed between myself and my Lbs ..but it could have had a lot more serious consequences . The shop is mind blowingly large and impressive ..and will now become my online store of choice . While waiting we spent the time at the equally impressive Wilf's Cafe..where 2 latte's a piece of Tiffin cake for me ..and what appeared to be a full cooked breakfast in a bun for Colin was leisurely devoured while reclining on the leather sofas ..and wondering how the lads were getting on with there climb towards the Calf ! To be continued ...( time to wake up the family )

You know what Adam I'd love to do that again, but apart from the fact she'd kill me - I'm gonna need a least 2 days for everything to 'settle down' again. You are in for a belter mate. Stick together and just watch out for the drops to the side of the 6" wide but brilliant singletrack, and the bits of washed away trail after the Calf, is all I'll say! There was a point just after that horrible road climb, when Col's rear flatted on a wind and rain battered hillside and it took an age (due to wet and cold fingers) to sort it, where I was stood on the side of that exposed hillside, freezing and soaking (Like a cock I didn't take a waterproof) when I could have just turned around and gone back to Sedbergh. Glad I didn't though because after that, the weather cleared again and I rode some of the best, techy and tricky singletrack I ever have, it's a shame you haven't got Neil tomorrow Adam as he showed us a brilliant rocky, rooty, steep descent that you probably won't find tomorrow. It was a blast. As I said to Neil - the best rides test you to your limit and you need to battle through, this was that for me. Lastly, after waffling on too much, what a pleasure to meet and ride with the lads I did for the first time, Neil, Kirky, Russ, Graham and Colin - great lads and Graham, no problem - no way I was leaving you on your tod amongst those rocks with you flinging yourself down the hill every 20 yards! Well done also mate - if anyone had the right to bin the ride it was you, superb determination and grit, they breed em tough ooop North! I'll sift through me Goo Pro stuff later, see if anythings worth putting up, first time with the camera mounted 'Tinky Winky stylee' so not sure how it'll come out. Thanks again to Steormy and Glynn too, great riders and always great company, always a pleasure. There was a rumour that even the mountain goat that is Glynn was spotted pushing his bike up bits of the Calf, but I was too far behind and don't believe a word of it anyway
