1.graham took a tumble off the main track...........graham its this way mate! 2.bowderdale, i put this one on to put it into perspective
Yeah..! Both of these great for opposite reasons! The first was certainly a double barrel roll with twist - degree of difficulty 7.5, style - 9; ankle twisted but not broken, thankful for the soft landing. That one could have been a 250 quidder if GoPro was rolling.. Damn fine pics Glynn, and many that made me realise that I had never turned around to look back at where we'd been, coming down the 'dale. But then again I did see it from many other low level points and angles as we all know..

Spot on Graham - sometimes on these rides you are so caught up with the mechanics of the ride you forget to look actually where you are!
Remember the Chinook in the valley below us? To me that was a brilliant moment and it made me stop and think that we are already seeing a sight not too many others see.
It's why we do it, that and the camaraderie. Glynn's pics are priceless.

I'm still trying to find the time to sort it out Glynn. There is nothing spectacular and unfortunately, probably(?), the best footage down that brilliant rooty descent through the trees was ruined by a bloody wet leaf being stuck to my Tinky Winky Go Pro lens Graham I really wouldn't be surprised if you have cracked a rib, hope you get back on it soon and don't give up on SPD's...just give up on wearing them at Bowderdale - for now!

I'm still trying to find the time to sort it out Glynn. I know the feeling. I often found that editing a 4 min. vid with transitions and soundtrack took 4 hours. it'll be good if theres a quick editing software that allows you to stop/start the capturing you want to include with the click of a button while you watch the raw footage, instead of all the faff of inserting times.

Don't know if it applies to the subtle GO PRO but I use Nero for very easy editing of hours and hours of African adventure stuff Even I can crop it all down , add music and narrative Unfortunately you have got to buy the programme but small price to pay for the ease of producing hi def vids

Having had time to reflect on this ride a few points to consider Firstly thanks to you youngsters for looking after Neil at the disastrous start and for all your help and support to me especially over the bloody puncture - having used a nail brush to scrub the tyre yes there is a bloody rip ( at the side ) So am now £33 lighter courtesy of acycles ( fantastic money saving site) What impressed me most though was the definite feeling that we were all cycling as a group - some of you could have obviously ( change that to all of you!) have disappeared over the far distant horizon as the geriatric slowly enjoyed himself at the rear Simple things like waiting and holding the gate open for me mean a lot! Having never met most of you before reinforces to me that there are two important things about mtbing - one the route and the other the company Give yourselves 10/10 for the second part as that is what keeps me going! One thing I would say children is never lose site of where we experience our fun Somebody on the forum once said ' show us the views' and I rather think this sums it up Think it should be obligatory on all ride write ups to include this or else we may as well spend our time hammering round trail centres Hope I can entice you lot into the Cheviots sometime but in the meantime , if you can cope with the Morris Minor coming out to play with the the Ferraris, would love to join you for some future rides

...I'll see your Morris Minor and raise you a Triumph Herald ( around about the same power) Colin ! The day that it ever becomes all about racing around ..would be the day that I would personally pack in ! I wouldn't presume to speak for anyone of them but from what I've seen so far ..I can't think that anyone would object ..a pleasure to ride with A group shot ..tea time at Ravenstonedale ..The Kings Head L-R Glynn, Ste,Pez,Russell, Kirky ( foreground) Colin & Graham's back

I know the feeling as I ride regularly with riders who are all fitter and faster than me and the reason I do ride with them is because they are as you described. It was a pleasure to meet you all. Us slower lads do serve a purpose as it forces the quicker boys to stop, wait and drink in where they are.

Right, got a bit of a compilation mish mash video 'cooking' on Vimeo - shall I post it up here or in the proper vids section? Be warned it's nothing special especially as the best runs (imo) were ruined by the mud/rainwater/wet leaf that all chose to stick to the go pro lens - and with it being on my bonce I didn't realise it was dirty - so the footage is from before the rainstorm, unfortunately

I sometimes, less often these days, ride with much younger lads and feel like the slow old one, then with similar or older guys. It doesn't matter the ages, fitness as eventually everybody goes their own pace and sooner or later catch up for a laugh at the events of the last section or to discuss the promise of the next.

No one will ever know - it has got Neil in it after all. And a bloke in spuds falling off.
