Reminds me how stunning those views were, I was guilty at times of looking the 10 metres in front of me only.
Liking the Creed tracks as well, used to love outside and the album that was on.

Got that totally wrong some of these bands sound so similar after many a years with no listen. outside wasnt Creed it was Stained, from the brilliant Break the Cycle album. (Off to dig it out)

Tell you what ..watching that vid just brought home how socially incorrect smoking a fag has now become ... It felt like he was doing something really naughty !

I've only met Graham on the one ride, but I learnt enough of the bloke at Bowderdale to (hopefully) know he'll see the funny side of this. For anyone not there Graham chose a very technical single tracked ride to try going clipless The results were....painful. These are just a few of his clipless moments, I missed the others due to the camera being off/or mucked up, including his spectacular bog diving incident (with sheep shit adornments), I actually lost count in the end, but the bloke never even thought of giving up...anyway, enjoy it Graham and it is only meant in fun!

If you listen carefully at the end as the music stops ( you might have to whack the volume up) you'll hear me going 'Shit! Shit!' as he goes down again, I was genuinely worried he'd hurt himself at this point as we were going quicker than the vid suggests. I was glad to get away from this valley as again, the drop to the side was VERY steep in places and I was sure I'd end up fetching him off the valley floor. As I said, he had some much heavier falls than I caught on Go Pro and I can only admire the lad for carrying on - I'd have gone home!!

To anyone who doesn't know him ..that looks like he had never been on a bike before ..never mind spd's ! Yet going back to April when he was on flats ..he absolutely slayed that route ! He was trying out the spd's due to injuries to his shins while in highlands ..so bad that they almost penetrated to the bone ..he needs to go back to flats with shin protection ..while getting used to spd's on something a lot less technical than Bowderdale ..but he will be back ..better than ever ... But sorry Graham ..knowing you are better than that ..I did find it funny !

It's hard to see from the footage but every trail was loose bottomed, tight (only 6ins wide in places) and narrow with random rocks or deep ruts to give you a pedal strike and send you gamboling down into the valley - I had numerous foot down moments to save me! I've got some old football shin pads I'm going to shove down the front of me sealskinz when the weather turns again.

Big respect to Graeme for the determination in seeing the ride through and other than the offs still seemed to be enjoying himself, he must generally be one of the most jolliest of people I've had the pleasure of meeting.
Normally I like to watch MTB fails and fall clips not for sadistic reasons but more too learn from and see where somebodys gone wrong or look for something in the trail which as caused the problem so I can try to avoid the same. However in some of those bloopers, other than the balance issues when stopping, I cant see anything in the trail that's caused a couple of the harder crashes on the Howgills roller coaster type section. It maybe down to loss of confidence with the pedal situation causing Graeme to simply carry less speed than normal and the lack of momentum leading to issues with some larger rocks or rut edges.

Yes ...I hear what you are saying there Kirky .. I have been on rides like that where after numerous " offs " your confidence is just slowly eroded to the point where there is nowt left at all ..and I do feel for him as self doubt does creep in ..but hey it was purely down to the wrong choice of equipment that caused all of that ..not a lack of riding skill ..he's just got to put that behind him and start again ...

Yep, think I said somewhere else I could see the confidence draining away after the 3rd or 4th off. Hope he sticks at the SPD's though as I think it's good to be able to do either with confidence. I only came off SPD's as I thought I ought to try flats and for a few weeks I was exactly like Graham, except with me it was feet coming off the pedals at the wrong time and causing offs - I was really close to binning the flats and going back to SPD's. Glad I stuck with it and I'm sure Graham will be too.
The one thing that struck me though was the bloke just never stopped smiling, whereas most would have been chucking the bike around and cursing. Brilliant effort and what a top lad.

Good to see you back Graham ...and after speaking to you today ..also back in the saddle .. I know that you have looked yourself but does anyone out there know of any decent lightweight / not too sweaty shin protection ? By the way if anything I have written has incurred your wrath ..i would just like to say that Pez made me do it ..!
