Def would be up for this BUT due to the 4hour drive would like to make a weekend of this so 29th suits me better - stop over with friends in Chesterfield ( does that make sense) then High Peaks leisure ride on Sunday Are you sure you don't mind a geriatric snail crawling along!

Okay the 29th is also the first day I get bck from a week away, so may get some grief from the other half for sloping off, may also be knackered after the week away.
August 15th it is, sorry to anybody that can't do it, we need to go with one or the other, if there's a few that can't do ithe 15th in the end let me know and we could always have another go on the 29th.
Sorry I just read your post bc after typing the above, if you can't make it 15th and come down for the 29th I will be happy to show you around again.

Pez ..I know you can't usually do a Saturday ..but it would be really great if you could get a pass out for this one ..I don't really feel like I've had a proper ride out with you yet ! Guess you will have to check the fixture list too ..I think I remember you saying that you had got season tickets this year ..? No ST's this season due to my shifts Neil. I was due to be on days on the 15th but have got 15 off but I'm gutted to say that this weekend I have earmarked to go and visit my Mom. She lives in Bromyard near Worcester so I only get down 2 or 3 times a year. I'd have loved to have done this too, hopefully there will be other rides before the weather turns on us. As you say only seems like you were riding with us for 5 minutes. The other date was also out anyway as the 29th is my 54th! I deffo wouldn't have got away with that! Oh well plenty of pics and vids of the day will have to do for me.

Looking good so far. Would be great to get some of the northern chapter together with the even more northern chapter, the Yorkshire clan and the midlanders. I just thought that weve only been looking at Saturdays, do the Sundays 16 th or 30th work better. I know it's hard to get one day for all but worth sounding out these as well. Just been round there this morning to try and find a better link for one section rather than road, how's that for dedication? In hindsight I hadn't given enough time for my aching limbs to recover and really suffered for the last 8 miles or so. Is there a way to add a vote button like either works, 15th or 29th? Ps try and get yourself down Chopper, if you stayed over with family and fancy Trying Gisburn on your way back home the next day give me a shout. Ok mate i'm staying over on the saturday night too but dunno how fit i'll be for Gisburn as our Jill does like a whisky or two on a saturday night

That's good news, we can play it by ear for the Sunday, it may not ho down to well with the mrs anyway and my knees tend to struggle with consecutive days and this ride will be quite taxing.

Just to update ..Colin is staying down on the Friday at some friends ... Dave & Jean could also be staying at Jeans sisters in Burnley ... I'm looking at Travelodge in Burnley as an option to stay down ..but haven't asked Graham if he wants to share a twin room ... Still coming either way though ...

Did much of the planned ride at the weekend and whilst it is a good one, it reminded that there are parts which are pretty much out of the question if its wet leading up to it. I cant remember much rain last week but one of the good bits was running like a river last Saturday and a lot of mud just before it. I will have to have a plan B up my sleeve just in case.
Shame you are all thinking of staying over on the Friday instead of the Saturday as we could have done Gisburn or a ride around Clapham or Settle on the Sunday morning on most of your ways back.
Just checking I was thinking of a loop of around 23 miles or so taking in varied terrain through high end of Burnley, Todmorden, through Hebden and back, which will be around 3000ft climbing (in mostly 4 bite size chunks) would have 6 or 7 good down bits of which 4 are belters and a few techincial and gruelling climbs. Would this be the preference to a shorter more Hebden Bridge techincial ride which due to the steepness around there would involve short very steep climbs and short fast technical descents so basically lots of time on the ups for some short but good descents and a bit bitty. The first option is my normal preference.

You're the man John ... Not having ridden anything in that part of the world it's all new / sounds good to me .. Happy to go with whatever you decide ..but your first option sounds better to these ears !

Nice one chopper, apart from potentially incurring the wrath of Mrs K,ideally could do with being early ish. We could visit Gisburn (you can shoot across via settle way and join the M6 from there) if you fancy a new trail centre but I know it will be tough on my knees after 20+ hilly miles the day before, or take in some of the best bits of Rivington (ice cream run, shooting booth, San Marino which again is handy for heady north or south M61/M6.
We can sort it nearer the time or on the day

Well myself and Graham have decided to travel down Friday evening ..I believe we are staying in the Hoiiday Inn express in downtown Burnley....An Indian Balti , 8 pints of whatever real ale is decent , a couple of hookers ..kicked out before a buffet breakfast ..twice around the car park at the meet up point ..and straight home sounds like a damn good weekend to me ...

That sounds like a good plan Hodgy. The hotels okay actually as fairly new, it's in a dodgy area though, sandwiched between an okayish estate and one of the roughest parts of burnley. If you fancy a couple of drinks out or a meal let me know and I'll recommend somewhere. With people staying over and paying for hotels and such long drives etc I'm starting to feel under heaps of pressure for the ride to be a good one. Let's hope it's dry so we can do the better route.
Have they said there's somewhere to store your bikes or take them to the room if. Not you can bring them around to mine and lock them in my garage if you like then either lick them up in the morning or I'll bring them with me when I meet you.
Speaking of bikes, tell graham if he's riding a hookers to make sure he where's his flat shoes so he can stay on long enough to get his money's worth. Lol.
Ps it sounds like most folks are in and around the area so maybe we could aim for a slightly earlier start so you can get home at a reasonable hour on the Saturday night. I will do a roll call early next week and check who's still up for it and we can decide on a time, 10 was okay but 9 may be better.

Kirky..there is NO pressure ..the ride will be what it will be and I'm looking forward to riding whatever you serve up as I have never ridden in that area before ..so don't panic ! I don't know if we are allowed to take the bikes in the room ..but with the hookers we are hiring, 4 bikes might be too many .. I will check with Graham ..but we might take you up on your offer ..many thanks I think the plan was that we would have food before setting off ..and in all seriousness maybe have a couple of drinks once down there ..but we won't be going too crazy With regard to starting the ride early ...I'm happy with whatever you decide ..I'm sharing a twin room with G ..and there is a strong rumour that he snores real bad ..so I probably won't get much sleep anyway ..what with the hookers n all ... Looking forward to it ...

With regard to the start time ..just looking at things again ..Colin still has a two hour drive to get there so maybe 10.00 am would be better ? It really does not matter to me what time we get back on Saturday ..I've been on rides where I haven't got back through the door this side of midnight having travelled there and back on the same day .. I'm not presuming to speak for anyone else ..but 10.00 is the usual start time for any ride we go on ..any earlier and we might have to miss breakfast ! Also the main reason for travelling down the previous evening was that we wouldn't be under pressure to get up too early on the Saturday ...

Russell is hoping to make this ride too... If he is coming it will be an early start to travel down on the day .. With over 4 litres of grunt under the bonnet it should only take him 30 mins anyway ..although the 5 fuel stops on the way might slow him down a bit ...haha!

Not been on the bike in 3 weeks due to no time off work so this will be a welcome weekend, i just hope the legs will stand up to the abuse after a long lay off (for me), I get to meet some new folks in person and get to ride in a different country for a change, although i can't complain about what i get to ride every weekend, roll on saturday

Looking forward to the ride ..Russell ( if he comes ) Graham , Dave & Jean ..as well as Kirky will be more than enough company for you up top though ...and Colin is the quickest septuagenarian I know !

Forecast looks pretty good for Saturday so far, most of the week is dry and sunny with only a bit of rain on Friday so hopefully the problem area (mainly just one part) will dry out.
Looking forward to seeing everybody. Just a word to the wise, flimsy tyre sidewall s are going lead to punctures as there's lot of rocky sections and also some stone slabs areas which may just cause pInch flats for those still running tubes and moderately low tyre pressures.
Let's have a roll call, who's coming then? Hurstwood car park BB10 3LH, plenty of parking before the pay and display car park, even more room on the pay and display but it will set you back the princely sum of a pound.
