Now where the frik is this bloody forest - Oh yes I remember - do the whole red/black trail ( lots of fun ) then meet this bunch of eediots crashing down to trail centre who then lead me astray! So this time I will be at the start - remain to be convinced that natural trails are best - but open to be persuaded See you all there - anyone needing a lift - Alnwick - Newcastle - M60 - Grizedale

I know this might seem daft ..but stranger things have happened.. This is just to highlight the fact that this ride is on the 10th OCTOBER ..and not next month . Please don't turn up in September ....

Not really Kirky ..like I said when I replied to your PM ..I don't really know the route and am relying on Ant showing us around again ... After that I don't really mind going again late October ..and Ian Bell our local bike shop owner has indicated he would be keen to go mid week later in the month too .. That's the best I can do mate

No problem, I'll keep my eyes peeled for a later ride and fingers crossed for some reasonable weather.

Any plans/availability to get another blast at this route in before October? Maybe mid week next week?? Hey Kirky, I'd like another bash around those hills. I don't have much in my diary for next week either. What days are good for you? I do not know the BW's in any knowlegeable way like Ant, or the trail centre at all (like Dave T does), all I have is the route we did last time and OS Maps. And a hankering to explore the southern tracks which we didn't do last time. There seems to be rain coming in for the weekend

I can pick any day normally but next week I'm looking at Thursday or Friday so can pick the best day, if they are both a wash out I can go the next week.
Dave has sent me an excellent map and a GXp file so combined with yours and your memory we should be okay.
I was thinking of going on my own sometime but always dread wasting a few hours travelling to flounder around a route with a high degree of uncertainty.

Glad to see you got sorted John..this is the forum working at it's best ! As much as I would like to join both you and Graham ..I have an appointment coming up at the docs which may determine if I am able to or not ..a little bit of trepidation as to the outcome ( knee) ..stopped me playing squash 20 years ago !

I'm feeling you on the knees, they basically stop me riding more than I do when I get the chance. Recently added to the usual patella pain with some physical damage and swelling after the fall at stiniog and then rather stupidly I caught my foot up climbing over a sty with my bike on my back last Thursday and fell from the top landing on both knees, more cuts, more bruising.
My leg locked up completely when I was away 18 months ago in what felt like a ligament or cartilage problem however over a few weeks it relaxed back to normal and my doc said hold off any exploratory surgery (which is ultimately the only to get to the bottom of it) until it happened again and then it would point to a cartilage or ligament issue rather than what may have been a bad sprain. I've since had a few bad twinges and bad few days here and there and feel like My knees are on borrowed time.

That would be good Ste, I can do any day. Just need to confirm by Monday ideally. Friday is marginally better.
Ste i normally head to lakes via gisburn past settle that way on, however the quickest way is via the M6 so if you want we can rendezvous and travel up together, stick your bike on my roof or vice versa. We can sort something out next week.
Fingers crossed for more of this good weather.

I've sold my place in the gisburn enduro now as I've had a rethink and decided to mellow out and stick to more gentle bimble-ing around the country side.
So I should be able to make it now for the 10/10.
If anybody needs to rendezvous for a lift up let me know. Should have roof Carrier for 4 by then.

My own chances of joining this ride are diminishing by the day .. Having rested and done nothing at all for the last couple of weeks ..it has not helped one bit I'm not due back to the docs for another couple of weeks but intend bringing that forward ..and all the while what little fitness I had is going down the pan ..making for a very grumpy bear ... As thing stand though there are still enough people interested for this to go ahead ...
