Saturday 10th October 2015 ..Natural Grizedale with a touch of red route .Lake District. Meet at the Moor Top Car Park up from the Forestry Commission Visitor Centre at 10.00 am . Seriously lads & lasses this is one of the finest natural mountain bike rides you will ever undertake in this country and you will be crying in your alcoholic beverage if you miss it There are at least 5 technical rocky drops that nothing a trail centre can conjure up could ever compete against .. There are loads of better riders out there than me ..but I have been fortunate to mountain bike in some fantastic locations ..and for sheer quality in a relatively short ride this tops my list ..if you don't believe me ..ask Ant , Dave , Jean , Graham , Russell,Jaco & Colin ..who have also tackled some of the best trails these Isles have to offer...this one is awesome ! Ant is leading us around once again and we will link some of the sections up with parts of the red route this time to minimise the amount of fire road ..but do expect some ! Do whatever you have to do to be there .... Please post if you can make it ..this is open to all with the pace being determined by the slowest riders ..but a huge smile on your face at the end is almost guaranteed !

I don't suppose you have a postcode to hand so I can see what mileage I'd need to drive?

Not to hand ..but having just done a Green Flag route plan ..it's 146 miles taking just over 2.5hours ( Rugeley to Grizedale ) ..I will get a postcode nearer the time

By the way what the heck is a whip in the profile sense, can't recall a tyre with that name? You're no longer all tyres. You're all tricks of some description. Everyone knows the coolest trick is a skid.

Everyone knows the coolest trick is a skid. How many posts is that then? Think i stopped at one of the hardest tricks at 10k posts. As skid is currently 5000. I'll have to have a redo I think.. There's a few users nudging 4000 posts now. Spamming buggers.

I'm on a permanent weekend riding ban I'm afraid. When I say ban I mean no later than 1pm which basically means local only.
I'm a shift worker and the Mrs is a 'normal' - Mon, Fri, 9 to 5. Obviously this means weekends are out, as I have to work some too.
Midweek not a problem from now on - all day rides are a go. Just not the weekends, shame.

That's a shame moto. I'm about to start working less, lazy bastard I know, so will have one day and then two days off each week. I can't ride every day as I'm trying to get a project or two of the go but will pick the driest day each week or very other week.
So if you want to meet up once in a while for a mid week ride well sort something out, there's probably a few others on shift work who may want to join us as well.

Also not averse to the odd midweek ride ( once the school hols are over ) meeting somewhere on middle distance .. Nice one, where is mid distance roughly, Grasington, Pately bridge, Settle or more like north Lakes?
Not handy for you Hodgy but I also fancy exploring the peaks in the future which I've never really got around to.

I would think NW.York Dales, Southern Lakes ..etc ...2-2.5 hours driving .. Would do this ride mid-week if it was to suit Pez ..it's a 2 + hour drive for me to get there from the top end of Northumberland ... We used to do this sort of thing once every month ..there are others who would do the same Can't do it though in term time ..both me & the b/h are self employed and while our boy is well capable of looking after himself ..we don't really trust the fact that the house would still be intact after being infested by newly turned teenagers if we were both out at the same time !

Let me know roughly for a mid week version and Ill save one of my last days off or make sure its on one of my new freelance days (1 per week through September, 2 days off a week from October until Dec 10th when I cease employment)so I'm sure we can work something out, I just wont be able to do Mondays and prefer not to be a Friday.
Just need to book a last trip to India, whilst somebody else is paying, for 7 to 10 days and then will know the only dates I cant do.

I will get back to you Kirky ..September is pretty much out ..would probably be towards the back end of October ( I wouldn't mind doing this again ) ..there is someone I have in mind who would probably like to do this route mid-week ..that can't make weekends due to work commitments ..I would probably have a better idea of the route then too having only been around it once so far ..
