Yeh I'll second Kev and say had a fab day, just demolished fajitas and cheesecake and still feels short of something. Those climbs don't half take it out of you and the descents are so rocky and techy in places it's not exactly a rest. Lovely to meet every body again and Paul and Ant for the first time. I'll try and get some go pro footage up tomorrow, if I have any, for now I'll leave these. The merry band I'm behind the camera. The view was quite good once out of the forest Ant Colin crushing the long hard climb. And then flying past.

Brilliant ride today chaps/ lady, good bunch of people to go for a ride with, would definitely do this again. To say I'm knackered is probably an understatement, worth it though for the awesome descents. Sorry for calling you Kev, Kev!!! You did look a bit frazzled before the last climb and I was relieved when you made it back to the car park. I know it's no fun when you legs start tightening up on you. I feel like I've been on some epic journey and a wee bit shakey at the moment. glad you got back safe. try to make the borrowdale Bash if it gets sorted out as an a forum ride, if you come by burnley you could stock your bike on my roof to reduce your drive.

Just back from a fantastic meal ..if I was wanting to take someone for a good steak and be sure of the quality ..this ( Sabatini's ) is where I would go ...I have never been disappointed here Steak Rossini ( fillet steak stuffed with pâté )
Sounds like your ride was as good as my steak! Seems like a forum ride has been mooted for Borrowdale ...if this is Ants naughty version ..stick me down for it Good to her everyone got on well ..and new friendships formed ..this is what it's all about ...
Newcastle tonight was as busy as I have known it ..loads of Scots staying over after the rugby ...

It was that bloody cramp that killed my thighs, if it wasn't for that I think I'd have been ok. Cheers for that John if I can make it then I'll tag along. Little lad didn't need any stitches in his knee, they just glued and strapped it. Hasn't stopped him from running around like a looney!

That's good news, It's good stuff that glue they use, less chance of a scar. I had my brow glued after a collision of heads along time back, healed great I just don't get any eye brow hairs growing on that bit.

Thanks for fantastic ride Ant - great social ride very much enhanced by the southerners ( south of hadrians wall which really should be the border!) ? cheap seat post before I have to write my Santa list Round Rivington sounds like a good winter option and to entice you all North strongly recommend Innerleithen which still rides well in Autumn with loads else to do with overnight stop Roll on the next one!

"Enhanced by the Southerners ... South of Hadrians Wall which really should be the border" In your dreams Mr.BM ! Saying that I thought we had been invaded in Newcastle last night ..with more men dressed in silly skirts than I have seen in a long while ...after the Rugby World Cup at SJP. Just wondering what Dave , Jean, Graham & Paul think about being labelled " southerners " now ...haha

Great day out as usual , enhanced by the "southern" contingent, good to meet John, Gaz and Michael for the first time. The day finished off on a high note when the northern contingent stopped for a beer and a burger at the Mill end pub which certainly hit the spot, cheers and hope we reunite for the Borrowdale bash some time in November.

Borrowdale would be good, I'm off for an Indian from end October to November 5th, so the 6th is the earliest for me and I could imagine riding my first day home may not go down to well with the dragoness. I wont know if the mrs is working any weekends or not until nearer the time but plan as you would and If I can join you I will.

First of the vids.
This was a lovely descent with lots of line choices rocky bits or nice loose loamy areas nearer to the trees. It felt quite fast at the time, looks pretty pedestrian now though but gives an idea of the terrain. Most of the other descents were a tad rockier. will post up a couple more tonight.
Following Gareth down.

Nice little section with some tricky sections especially through the collapsed wall, then its nice and loose down to the road.

Good grief, I don't know where you all got the energy to post last night! I could barely get out the car and thought that just sleeping in it was not a bad idea! But bloody enjoyable day and glad I didn't miss it. The climbs seemed a lot tougher than last time I did this ride a couple of months ago and the descents, although not really long, are fast and need maximum concentration. I inspected the terrain from a close up low level angle more times than I'll admit, but I wasn't the only one! (running a longer stem for first time is my - pathetic - excuse) The northerners and southerners made a great crew to ride with, good to put more faces to names from on here.. oh no, memory time.. Gaz, Gary, Gareth, Michael, Mike, Mick or all called Kev.. See all totally clear now, at least I know that John is not called Dave anymore.. Great day, thanks to all, see you all again at another forested hillside in the near future.

Excellent ride, good to meet Michael and Gaz too. Grizedale really does have some wonderful techy bridle paths, fast and rocky to keep you on your toes. No real damage after my two falls, one over the handlebars the other John thought he caught it on camera but it was not switched on - phew saved my embarrassment. Shame Neil missed it after organising the ride and thanks to Ant for leading. John hope you get back to full health soon. See you all at the next one. Excellent burger at the Mill Inn at Munkgrisdale on the way back.
