50 miles in one day? Surely not! Today's pictures are very cool. Which I could be there too! The beast looked easier on the photos than what it is...I actually think Spud Alley is harder...however I did both on a HT, so I'll look forward to try them on a FS next.

53 actually ! You calling me a liar ? Lol If you have the time or inclination to check out the route you will see that quite a bit of it is on the Trans Pennine Trail which is off-road but well surfaced and accounts for about a third of the ride . The first time I did with just Ian Bell we got lost and finished in the dark without lights at 10.30 pm ..getting home at around 2.00 am ... That's not such a great distance really ..we have held events at Kielder covering 100 miles in a day all off -road . Gaz is entered into an event up here in September which is 101 km ( over 60 miles ) again all off -road . The race winner last year did it in a sub 5 hour time ...I was marshalling at the event and couldn't believe how fresh he was at the end ! You should try the route yourself being fairly local to it ..it's more than achievable on a long summer day ...

It attracted some serious racers last year..but the majority entered just to complete it and chalk it down as an achievement ..Graham also competed and completed the course ..a good few didn't . I think you will be pleasantly surprised at just how good the event is ..

Yes mate looking forward to it will be shitting my self as it gets closer but it's a long way off and hope to have built a fair fitness level up Won't be a race for me mate just a bloody big hard challenge somethings to say I had a go at it Spoke to graham about it he said he hated the first 50k lol and pushed up some of the climbs to save his legs that's my way of thinking as well not killing my self ..

Oh OK…i see what you mean now…I've cycled some of those routes which are quite flat. I was thinking 50miles at the heart of the Peak, with a lot of altitude variation. However, When i get the beast built in March I'm up for anything really…i like a good challenge specially when it comes to fitness…so, lets get something organised for the Spring!? LOL

No challenge from me ..just a suggestion to try a great ride. While it would be good to do the ride again ...and I will someday I don't think I will be heading down there this year. A 320 mile round trip with a couple of nights accomodation isn't on the cards right now especially as I have done the ride twice already ... If I do any trips away then it will be the Highlands again ...still lots of new stuff to explore ! This one is very much on your doorstep though ..and on the right day in dry conditions takes some beating ..

My frame actually arrives at the beginning of Feb but i will only have all the parts by the first week of March (depending on the availability of the Evans mechanic to put it all up). Hopefully it will rain a lot up until then so i don't feel that I'm missing too much…lol...sorry guys, being selfish here. Even if its the first ride i do i will be on the forum ride, no doubt.

Slightly confused ..with regard to the " forum ride " ...you are aware that the link that I posted is the same ride that Gaz ( Marmite ) has invited you to join ..12th March ?

Oh ok...apologies! I thought there was something getting organised besides that. As soon as I get the bike ready I'll get in touch for the next available ride...seems so long away but hopefully it will all be worth it in the end!
