yeah...Enve's look great no doubt...but with CK, they would get over 2 grand...(if bought and brought from US, 2K)... it looks hard to find a place in the UK who sells them, specially with CK hubs? I'd be careful buying from the US due to being stung with import tax when they reach the UK. There are some companies (USA based) that say they can 'usually' get around the import tax but they won't guarantee it. Have a look here.. They offer price matching - maybe it would be worth asking if they can match a price from America, unlikely but worth asking!?

I've got people who live in the US...if I was ever to lose my mind and get some, they would either bring it to me or post them themselves...and this way not have to pay the tax! It would even be over 2K which is crazy money which I'm not sure I will ever be prepared to pay! Lol

I know what you mean. I've got my heart set on a Nomad and my finger is always hovering above the 'buy' button.. Got to sort a house out first though..

Correction I have an insider who actually went to see them and is going to race for them...they are in fact produced in China according to the guys design and specification. However, with a 20% discount code, 999 for a set including CK hubs, is quite appealing, specially if with 0% finance?! The hubs alone are almost half of that right? Interesting article www.i-mtb.com/carbon-wheels-experiences-and-tests/

That's a very good price, for CK and carbon, I don't think I'll ever spend that much on wheels though and I'm a bit 'meh' about carbon anyway (I'm no weight weeny) but, also - people shouldn't be so hung up on being built in China - you'll find an amazing amount of stuff is, for the bigger companies but under their quality controls too.

Very good article that G - thanks. So, in summary, it seems either get Enve (if you have money enough) as they are clearly the best OR get the cheapo Chinese light bicycle ones - which are almost as good as Enve, better than most alloys and every bit as good as other carbon rims that cost 4 times as much...hmmmmmm...cheap Chineee and Enve stickers, anyone?

No problem with Chinese carbon, they produce an hell of a lot of it and a lot for the bigger brands in frames and other parts. My point was that carbon rims with hope hubs looks like a good price at 699/799 however when you consider the Chinese rims are probably costing them something like 50/75 a pair and the bubs from hope maybe around 60/65 wholesale price at the most for the pair then they are making a hefty margin for building them up. A nice business model if they get enough orders and no surprise they can offer 20% off.
Now if they were laying up the carbon themselves to some fantastic standard in their own factory as G first suggested then the price would have been more reasonable, still a massive margin until they start spending big money on marketing.

Yes Zulu...it's looks like that was the outcome of that article...I wouldn't feel right about Chinese copies with Enve stickers...but I think I'm going to get these sixth sense ones...83 quid a month, It doesn't really hurt me too much! Just trying to decide if black or white decals...small or bigger decals too!
Seriously, if anyone wants some Crossmax ST with probably not more than 50 hours of riding, let me know your offers!?

He didn't seriously suggest putting ENVE stickers on non ENVE rims, did he? ? That would be like buying a Fiesta and putting a Ferrari badge on it..

You might fool some people though as a rim with an envelope stickers going to be difficult to tell from real at a glance. Not quite like a fiesta with a Ferrari badge.
However you may also fool some scum bag into targeting your bike as being the one they should nick.

Exactly...I think it's for that reason that these sixth elements rims don't have stickers but they are actually etched on the rims... But I couldnt buy cheap and make it look like Enve's anyway!? That would be very wrong!

I do like the idea of the plain matte rims, no stickers tbh. They would be going on the Chief so stealth is where it's at for that one.

sixth element rims? didn't see those ones - link? Assume you found them... They do the rims in matte or gloss finish...they also do big or small graphic decals...on Instagram it's easier to see... The matte rims with gloss black, big decals would look awesome...but I think I'm would always prefer gloss rims since I think they would have more protection. Against scratches, etc...so I'm thinking black gloss with a dark grey decals! They also do 3 width sizes...which I'm not sure which one I should go with... I'm not good with too many choices...but basically you can specify whatever you want with these!

So, I've ordered mine in gloss black with dark grey graphics...should arrive in 3 weeks... But today I was offered these...look great too and an option I considered, but I just think the gloss gives it a bit more protection against scratches maybe...and easier on the mud...but they do look sick! Do i wait the rest of the weeks or do i get these this week?
