Having had conversations with both Glynn & Pez in the background regarding a midweek ride ..and with my work & leisure diary filling up for next month a date has now been agreed with Glynn to do this ride ( which is the same ride we did but aborted due to the weather on 20.8.16) as above . My apologies to Pez first of all as he hasn't as yet got back to me with a date ..so I really hope that this one suits . If not I will arrange another time more convenient to yourself ..but not in September ... So ..does anyone else want to join the fun ? It's a great ride ..ask Gaz ( of the windy variety ) . I'm also trying to arrange a revisit for the folks who were there on the 20th August on a Saturday next month as all said they wanted to go back and do the full loop sooner rather than later ..but this may be at short notice due to work rotas not yet known ..phew ! In the first instance though anyone else interested in this date ..? Nick Mckeown( aka Laurence of Arabia ) ..is coming with me from over here ..there may be more..

About 20 -25 miles low level but with lots of short sharp ups and downs ..mainly rocky terrain ..dont know the exact height gain but think Gaz's Strava link on the previous ride showed around 1800ft(edit: actual just over 1200ft) but we didn't complete the ride so there will be at least that again ...dont be fooled by the distance or perceived lack of height ..it's quite testing and claimed one victim to injury and another due to a mechanical last time out ... Grin factor 9/10..some great downs ! In terms of travel a nice little alternative to your journey..for those travelling up from the south a bit*of mileage(*edit:it's actually only about 6km difference going through Windemere to Ambleside) can be saved by exiting on j.36 skirting Kendal and heading towards Bo'ness on Windemere and taking the car ferry to Hawkshead ..mind you its £ 4.40 per crossing ...which is every 20 mins Car parking in Hawkshead is also not particularly cheap ..and it's camera controlled ...pay on exit ..but where is cheap in the Lake District !? Hope a few can make it ..

You've changed from an " I'd be up " to a " might be up " John ! Lol. It would be good if you can make it ... It's also one of those rides that has escape clauses if the day is getting away from you and time becomes an issue .. I should also say that I was looking to meet at 10.00am on the main car park in Hawkshead ..doubtful if I could get there sooner .

The route there for us southerners is to veer off before Kendal and into hawks head via Newby Bridge saves going via the more touristy roads Ambleside way or a ferry crossing.

I'll have to wait for the weekend version, pity as I wanted another crack at that last climb that was doing an impression of a river last time.

Been feeling shit with a muzzy summer cold since end of last week but hopefully will have shifted in time for this one.
Who's coming?
Last time I had a short ride it ended abruptly as my headset was knackered lower bearings totally disintegrated so much it was knocking on every bump. If I can get round to sorting it I might have to bring the big one. Would the capra be overkill or suitable for this route?

Frayed knot Glynn.. Just head for the only major car park opposite the Hawkshead outlet store ..near to the public loos and you can't go wrong! I'm also looking forward to it very much . I'm not 100% sure who is coming with me yet ..but I will be there .
