So, talking of money pits... What rims do you all suggest? DT Swiss EX1501, Mavic Crossmax XL, SRAM Rail 50, all seem to be good wheels, If I was buying another wheelset i'd be going for the DT Swiss EX1501 or the XR1501

The Mega wouldn't be my first choice of frame considering you want a bike thats a little different. Look how many are out there at the moment! That being said, they seem to be great frames and the new ones do look alot better (looks wise)
Wheels wise, DT Swiss seem to be the best atm, did you see Gwins tireless run? They're pretty strong wheels!
I'd also be looking at the new XTR 1x11. Not going to cost much more that Saint
Good luck with the build mate, whatever you choose to spec it with, its going to be one hell of a bike!

It's just the cost of spares that puts me off ... Quite expensive 11 speed stuff does tend to be expensive, you're right. I've just been on CRC to check a few prices.. For a full XX1 drivetrain which includes cranks, chainring, BB, chain, mech, shifter and cassette, I'd be looking at close to £1k. I'm going to check prices on the Shimano XTR 11 speed stuff and see how they compare.. Not too keen on the XTR 11 crankset though :? A plus for Shimano is that (i think) it uses a regular 9/10 speed freehub so there's no need to buy an 11 speed specific wheel..

I'm not doubting the XTR 11 speed is good, but I couldn't live with the looks of that crank.......... definitely had a good beating with the ugly stick

XTR 11 speed does look a little bling, like some ghetto spinner alloys... But think I'd still have it over the SRAM... As Shimano has never let me down!

I'm the opposite, I've never had any issues with SRAM but have had a Shimano shifter fall apart on me mid ride up the Pentlands leaving me with only front mech shifting and locked in the small cog on the rear, it wasn't a very enjoyable ride after that lol, apart from that I have had no other bad experiences with SRAM or Shimano, these days I wouldn't mind what I put on my bike,they are both as reliable as each other and while both shift different they both have a quality feel about them, the only thing that tips it SRAM is that it has a wider range to play with.

It's always going to be a "what you personally prefer" I don't dislike SRAM... I'm just a Shimano boy!.. When it comes to group sets anyway.. But obviously when hope bring out their cranks.. I'll be a Hope boy!...

I think when it comes to cranks i'll always be a Shimano guy (although new bike has SRAM cranks)I've tried various other makes and for one reason or another i've always ended up going back to Shimano.

On BOS, I have and wouldn't go there again. A shock took 8 months to be repaired. Service intervals on the fork were bullshit as well.
