I don't hate them, still got one in the man cave. Just don't think a bike looks quite so good with one on - especially big hitting bikes. Just my opinion. They don't make that much difference when riding in shoite conditions anyway.

All the boys will be wolf whistling you now when you ride past. I know I will.

Nelly, I need some advice on the front chainring.
I've never ridden 11 speed before and bought a 36t front ring which I hope will do me fine for the likes of Cannock!
I'm thinking ahead a bit and wondering what might be best for Snowdon? I'm fairly fit but I don't want to kill myself getting to the top!
Would you say a 34t would be ok or drop straight down to a 32t??
Am I right in saying you were running with a 32t which you thought was too small??

I'm running a 32 which is making me lazy but as I never spin out in the highest gear I may as well keep it as it will eventually come in hand 36 would be fine for Cannock but anywhere with proper climbs you would struggle Don't worry about what gear for Snowdon, most of it is off the bike pushing

I always thought lock rings came with cassettes? Not got one with mine. I can find every speed going apart from 11 so not sure if I need one or not!

Your handlebars didn't snap.. That's reassuring They excelled mate could be a placebo but after a full on days downhill I had no arm pump which is apparently one of the main benefits of a proper carbon bar, plus the 800m width was so epically comfy for my body size (6'4'') smaller peeps would struggle maybe When it comes to the mega though the paint work is proper crap, like worse than you could ever imagine so make your choice now, invisiframe everything or expect rubs after your very first ride, I had tape on some bits and not others but hated the way it looked, made a decision to let it get scuffed, no point invisiframing it when the last 2 bikes I had were crashed so often that there were proper chunks and scrapes on it that no tape would have protected. removed the tape from around the head tube and it wore the paint to base coat after half a day, base coat seems tough though. Its a mtb its supposed to look a bit scruffy, think If I had taped it I would have been to precious about it putting it on uplifts and in cars etc, best just to let it look used and then respray in the future if you have to. Speaking of it looking scruffy, I could do with cleaning it from the weekend some point this week!

I'm still undecided about the Invisiframe despite having spent £60 on the kit. The ex was going to stick it all on for me today because she's good at stuff like that but, I've held off for a bit.
On One hand I think it's a nice frame why not look after it..
On the other, why bother I've never taped a frame before.
I'll stick a few of the bigger bits of tape on I think and see what I think.
The cranks came taped up already and yeah, it looks a bit odd.
Like you say, could always get it painted as and when.

Last two bikes I've had haven't had paint on em so I didn't care. I'm a bit OCD on keeping things clean so I spent last night with a pack of 3M tape and the Mrs hairdryer covering my Meta after seeing those pics of the back end heel rub! To be honest, I'm looking forward to scratching it so I can stop caring and ride it. It's nice when you get to the stage of riding with your mates, getting to the end of a section and throwing the bike on the floor and having some cake. When I took it out the other day I was carefully balancing it up trees making sure it didn't fall over.

Screw invisiframe. We're riding bikes down things that people would hesitate to walk down, the bikes will get scratched and a little beat up.

Scratches don't bother me... When I get one...I'd just sell it and buy a fresh bike!..

Well jay getting his put together made me get off my arse and clean mine after leaving it for a few rides And while I was at it I thought I would fit some new bits, some more pink stickers, different grips and thanks to Jonny off here some new cranks that I didn't need but seeing as they were 60% off I had to have some bling. The mudguard has also gone for now as it was taken off for squeezing into a car and not put back on New cranks and spider less direct mount chainring Cleaning it showed a few battle scars
