Looks like you had a great time! How does it compare with Llandegla in terms of climbs, technical, difficulty, speed, jumps?

Yeah, I was thinking about Degla and the fact we didn't take any photos!? Will you change your helmet Gaz? Does Bell offer 40% off a replacement as Spesh?

Try 1-2 clicks less rebound as well. That also helped me before.

Danny ..if you do try those ergo grips...keep quiet about it as Marmite got some real stick when he tried them ... Not that it should deter you if it helps ! They are ugly but no doubt a lot more supportive and comfortable, and you can notice the difference. Just takes a few rides to tweak them to the correct position. Did Marmite get as much stick as i didi with my truly awesome mudguard?! LOL This is what i meant on the saddle, arm, stem setup. www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/technique-perfect-mountain-bike-fit-29498/Yeah...GP...waste of time...unless you have constant pains which they would give you some pain killers or an cortisone injection. Good luck

Sorry to hear that mate! I had some problems before too...not exactly the same but still! My first suggestion is, bike setup and tweaking things a bit, saddle position and angle as well as bars. Have you done that basic setup test of the elbow on the tip of the saddle and your middle finger should get around middle of your stem!? That helped me a lot not too be too stretched or too over the bars which puts different pressures on your hands. Also, I used to have some ODI SDG Hansolo grips which were very grippy but thin and used to give me a lot of pins and needles...changed them to ODI Rogue which are much thicker and softer and tha help a lot. Even though they don't look very nice those Ergo grips are so supportive and comfortable...

Ok guys...might not be fundamental...but we all agree that: -they make riding safer (a lot) -they make riding more fun (even if just a bit more, which is always worth it)

how grippy are the pedals....seriously? don't be biased! and what shoe do you use...? I've only tried a few sets of pedals. . A set of Wellgo V8 copies, a set of Nukeproof Electrons, real DMR V8's and then my Vaults. It's close between the Vaults and the Electrons. Certainly if I were looking to 'buy' pedals again, I'd really be considering the electrons over the Vaults mainly because of their price to weight to performance ratio! However, the Vaults are the better pedal IMO. They look great, they grip better than the Electrons and are super smooth. Apparently they're easy to service and you can get spare pins and parts easily. The shape is nice, they're really wide and thin, and my shoes (just some old Vans Old Skool skate shoes) rarely leave them. I've yet to catch a shin on the pins in the 8 months or so of riding, unlike with the electrons which have left scars! So yeah, they are really good pedals. Personally I doubt I'd pay £110 for them, as the £30 electrons perform pretty damn well. On your nice new bike though, I'm sure the Vaults would look sweet as! Thanks for that mate. If I'm going to change to flats, its important for me that they are the grippiest possible...because I'm planning to keep this bike for a long time, the price becomes a bit less important (within limits of course) if you know what i mean...grip and durability are more important.

...just think this...tomorrow you might not have that bike anymore...plain and neutral is what I say! Plus Cube clothing im sure is overpriced in comparison to others probably much better too!
But i agree with Marmite below...

From what i heard...a 32T oval...is like a 34T on the most powerful part of the stroke and a 30T on the hardest part...sorry if it complicates things... i believe you should measure the chain as if it was a 32T round anyway. The rest is taken by the mech...wish i had done that too. When my new OneUp NW goes, ill be straight onto an oval.

Cheers for the offers ... I've ridden bikes with droppers on them..( even the e-bike had one!) but I'm so used to riding without that it didn't enter my mind to use it / them ... I do see the benefit as on steep gnarly stuff I always stop to lower it anyway ! To be honest for every tale of someone having a trouble-free time I maybe hear two or three tales of woe ...and that is probably the main reason that I haven't gone down that route ...and you can't miss what you haven't had ! Maybe one day ... True...and I admire "old school" people who still manage to do everything without one! However the main reason why I say for you to get one is two-fold...you will have more fun and it will be safer for you. Get a reliable post and you will be fine...Glynn's one is bullet proof from what I always read. Keep your normal post in case something happens while it goes for warranty and you will always be able to ride anyway.

Not sure they make them for my antique rlo...but good tip all the same ! If you mean, the size of your pipe (huh...right!?!)...lol Thomson do 27.2, 30.9 and 31.6 diameter posts, that should suit any bike really. I hope you get a dropper one day, just to realise what you have been missing...makes you more in control, have more fun, faster, safer...it really does. I was actually thinking all those things yesterday as we were going around Degla.

...that kind of sums up my attitude to dropper posts ..just when I think I might actually try one...I hear of yet another "fail"... Hodgy...get one mate...it's a great great piece of kit...for places like yesterday where you are constantly going down, then climbing for a bit...it would make my rides lot less fun and much more dangerous. I believe this new reverb version will be much better...or just get a Thomson if you want a piece of jewellery and trouble free easy maintenance (if any) post! Trick...get your missus to shop at Tesco...get their vouchers every 3 months...double their value for Evans vouchers...get Price Match at Evans if you find cheaper...buy it through TopCashBack...makes your dropper a lot cheaper!

Was good to meet up yesterday guys, good laugh as always!!! Felt sorry for Andy when his reverb went about 3 miles into the ride.] [It's a Reverb at the end of the day! That's what they are meant to do! Lol (Sorry...lol) I hope you manage to get it sorted fast and free!

Yeah...those are the wheels I meant! Look really nice, specially after seeing some up close yesterday.
That section looks like you can go really fast...looks awesome! I really want to take the advantage of my trips to Cumbria every month to do some natural stuff but also Winlatter...might as well experience both!
I've heard there is a place in Wales where you pay a fee and they take you and the bike to the top of the hill as many times as you want!? Is that true? Is it just for DH?
...I know it's a bit of a cheat but should be cool!
