I can't read English so the signs mean nothing to me...they are just arrows for trails to be ridden.

Biking and lifting heavy weights , good going for an 80 year old. I will probably spend most of my time being ill. Picked up a new Orange 5 yesterday...not heavy at all! Massive improvement from Orange by the looks of it, not only in the new type of aluminium but also shaping of the tubes...good to see. Like it or not, their simple design and single pivot, works and suits UK conditions, no doubt! Good thing they don't do a Ti version!? Lol

Yeah...ish...because Mick is not in shape we skipped Screaming Mile and Suicide Break (plus i did it 3 days before) and went straight from Fairholmes on the hunt for the "star" bridge...we spent quite a long time on the road going around the dam...im sure there must be a quicker way and i don't remember spending so much time on it last time...but maybe we were just chatting. Its very enjoyable no doubt, with a bit of everything. There were more boggy patches than last time and Mick went OTB on the middle boggy patch but managed to save himself from a complete dive in the mud.

Glad i didn't book a day off for it then?!?!...you live and learn...should have come with me on sunday to do Cutgate (probably for the last time this year)...always an awesome ride that one...also did the rest you had in mind last time before we turned back to meet John...it was a nice little bit with a small descent but more techy climbing after the gate and along the stone walls on your right. The descent on the way back from the middle point (where the pile of rocks is where we saw that skull) all the way down to the slippery stones is just awesome.
Im doing wharncliffe with Nick tomorrow night if you fancy?!

That is pretty awesome! Shame I don't like Strava...but this almost makes me want to join! I actually think a few more images would make it even more dynamic and interesting! #getsomemoreparacetamoljohn

I've started to realise with a few recent documentaries and Instagram posts, that it is more common and serious than I once thought! Today after Cutgate (yeeeew) I've made sure I properly checked myself...apparently they also like to go on your hair which is even more dangerous! This might not be for everyone, but if you trim your legs it also helps to detect them...besides helping your cycling! Lol

Because of a cold John??? An easy ride with some fresh air would make it go away...and Olbas oil drops on your pillow at night!

Good stuff G. Even the less technical trails seem to come alive in the dark. its a good idea to conserve your battery. turn it down to a lower setting when you're on the easier parts of the ride. i also take spare batteries, but never needed them yet Yeah, those last steep switchbacks down to the pub are interesting in the dark! My fault for not charging the batteries from new.

Went on a proper night ride yesterday at the Peaks...we started at 8pm at Ladybower, up Screaming Mile, down Suicide Brake, up to the ridge along the cheeky at Derwent and bombed it down for at least 10 min up to the back of the pub...it's nice but there is no doubt that it is more dangerous (specially with only one light after running out of battery), and you don't go as fast! At least it wasn't bad weather!?

What's that Ergon saddle like? i admire their ethos of making everything as ergonomic as possible and it really does sound like they make good comfortable products!?

Long shot but, Can't you put it in a way where you can drive your car right up against it not allowing it to be opened?

Cool bike! It will be interesting to see how those rims will cope on a big-hitter like the Alpine? I would swap the seat collar for a non quick-release!? Lol. Enjoy!

So, new mech is on and today I indexed the gears properly after the shambles on Whinlatter. After watching a great clip on you tube from GMBN, it is actually very easy to do! So if anyone is ever nervou about doing it, don't worry...it's a piss as long as you do it step by step properly
