this is just an idea, but
travel up earlyish sat morning, arrive late morning ready to do an ullswater ride, which if iv checked the correct route is only an 8 mile ride.drive back to wherever we are staying, check -in. looking back at the whole thread people would be interested in a YHA in ambleside, windermere,glenridding or maybe patterdale. ambleside and windermere will give more options for something to eat and drink, or just stay in the YHA for that.
sun morning, meet up with any that are travelling just for the day, do the helvellyn ride, drive home sunday evening

yep.as i say i wont know till saturday when im back at work. how about we give till jan 31st (earlier if nessesary) for anyone to give a definate yes.count up and try to book one of the four YHA's i mentioned earlier. money up front immediately (looks like being around £25 each) if there are vacancies, no refunds.what do you think?

That's only half of the Ullswater route  Ullswater ShoreI'll be riding up that way in a couple of weeks and hoping to ride this route so I'll take a couple of pictures to whet yer appetite |

nice 1 gaz. looking forward to the pics already. im just thinking tho that seeing as its only a warm up for helvellyn and wouldnt be starting till around mid-day, wouldnt the shorter route be better? just an idea and i'd go with the majority.

There's a campsite in Glenridding, not 100% but I think it may have a bunk house as well Good! feck tenting it! Mostly cos I've got no camping kit at all and I ain't buying any - either! I've shared a bunk house with these animals before.... I'm still seeing the quack to this day!! |

back at work today and the rota says someone has already booked off the friday, which means i cant have my friday nightshift off. so its just a daytrip for helvellyn for me if its on the sunday
