I didn't know you was a full blown Yorkshire man. (Disclaimer; no offence ment or intentional regional stereotyping. However it's normally true).

Lol...TBH, it's not the fuel money...it's more the time travelling...(it will make me sound like a pussy but when I go there and back on the same day, it's a bloody long drive and it takes it out of you...I can just imagine after 4-5hours ride) and it's another day away from home! Plus the peaks are 10 min away from mine! But It's still a possibility...certainly if another is arranged in the summer when it's dry.
No Yorkshire in me I'm afraid...lol! But I'm not sure if Portuguese is not worse!?

Anybody else or is everybody waiting to see the forecast (that's normally my trick). Yep, that's me It is now definitely on my calendar, in biro, but a shite forecast will get the magic marker out.. Annual spirometry review has confirmed my COPD has worsened. And my BP is quite high. Mouldy wet windy winter of sinusitis and colds and no riding have fooked me over I reckon. Just got a new inhaler today which might help the lungs. But no salt n vinegar on my fish supper anymore and that won't be nice or easy. As long as I'm not told to lay off the beer and whisky I can manage the rest.

Sorry to hear that Graham - what is COPD, if you don't mind me asking. Fish and chips with no salt and vinegar isn't worth eating, imho.

I'm the same mate - don't mind long drives now and again but after a hard day in the saddle last thing I want is a long drive home, all sweaty and knackered. I'll probably do Degla 3 or 4 times this year, BPW once and a couple or 3 more big rides (Helvelyn? Peaks? Lakes? but apart from that I'm a bit of a home bird.

In the summer, I'm defo there! At least the risk of travelling all that way and get nice weather is much lower!

F£&@ that! Put your foot down!? Lol

i work on a loose theory. if the riding time is roughly as long, or longer than the travel time, then its worth the journey especially for somewhere awesome like the lakes

Sorry to hear that Graham - what is COPD, if you don't mind me asking. Fish and chips with no salt and vinegar isn't worth eating, imho. Thanks Pez. COPD is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, basically lung damage caused by smoking, and inhaling deeply I've been using a mild broncodilator inhaler when necessary (i.e. before a ride) for 4 or 5 years, but this year I need it during a ride, and more often generally. The damage can't be reversed but I can aim to stop the rot and I'm pretty confident it's going to be decently controlled with this new long acting inhaler. Which is weird stuff, it's a powder, not a vapour, and it tastes rank. Only just started it so I should get used to the side effects in a few days. The high blood pressure I was not expecting, but I do like a lot of salt on most grub.. not good for arteries. But it's all just adaptations needed to keep an old bloke on his bike!

( wonder if they notice that I did no riding ) ... 12 hour sleep!!?!?? I don't think I ever done that in my life!? 6-8 is the max I've ever done! Just not a good sleeper unfortunately and with two young girls it's even harder...
