There's loads of capable bikes out there.. not nessacarily those that are in the Magazines a bike shouldn't be scrutinised by one or a small group of people to warrant it's worthiness...

The review of the 'Dale in MBR really does rate that fork....me I would have nightmares and wake up in cold sweats thinking that I had lost half the front end ...and that apart although it's tried and tested how can the bike be balanced ?

It's confusing as hell riding a lefty iv been on my mates a few times
Really stiff and makes your head hurt looking at it
But once you get going if your looking at thr forks you aren't riding properly anyway soon get used to it

Don't understand why everyone hates orange so much, I think secretly you all too scared haha . Like I've said I want a bike that can do anything but can go down queen Elizabeth without shaking me to death. I not a downhill racer but these are not downhill racing machines. I'm stuck between the alpine 160 and the five. despite all the hate I think I may get the alpine, there is some pretty gnarly stuff near me and I think the four just wouldn't be enough

I agree with Kirky here, I'm all for being different, but the Whyte has won MTB of the year. Sometimes bikes are common for a reason. Yet I remember quite clearly, stating when we rode the resurfaced lower cliffs not so long ago, that you stated you bought your two bikes because they were uncommon.. And you enjoy the nicheness!. It's still true as well, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the more common bikes. Like I said, they are common for a reason, that reason being they are a bloody good bike. I do like to have stuff that is a bit different though, that's just me. The Whytes are a cracking bike and I know that because several people I know have rode them and rave about them. There are so many Oranges about so again, that means they must be a cracking bike - I just can't get on with the look of them though.

I'm with you there on the looks ....butt ugly ..but that's just my opinion . I also don't like the ride ...tested one a couple of years back on a demo day at Kielder ...and although I wanted to like it I personally thought it was shit ...

I'm not a fan of the look of the five I don't like the rear swing arm But others love it
Orange isn't a pretty bike at all, I love my alpine but doesn't look any where near as cool as some other makes of bikes etc but it doesn't shy away from anything I throw at it,
Aslong as you don't mind putting up with sore legs for the first few rides the alpine is a great all rounder as you can take it anywhere and never have to worry it may not be able to handle it, If I'd got a smaller travel trail bike I don't think I'd of had the confidence to do some things I have done ( even if the bike would of done it) the alpine gives you lots of confidence the steeper and gnarlyer you go

In my head at the top of something stupid
If you was to get into a fight in town and turned to your mate ( shorter travel trail bike) you got my back? and he said errrm yeah you'd be worried
Turned to the alpine mate and he's shouting lets f%$King have it!!
Your more likely to go down less tense
Yes my head is that strange

They do look industrial.. and very common.. but they work.. similar to a defender 90. My Alpine will be my last Orange Full Suss in this guise...

In fact this is probably the least hate forum you will get!? It's just that for you, it sounds like riding an Alpine will be a huge overkill, and the latest trend is to have shorter full sussers, which like Kirky says, are perfectly fine for UK riding, unless you are going to get airborne a lot...and even that with new forks and shocks which allow volume spacers, you can tune it not to bottom out (up to an extent!?)...which is why the Four is by far the better option (if Orange) overall...good updated geometry, I believe new aluminium, better climber and really chuckable! I used to ride a HT with only 100mm travel and rode various places like the Peaks without a problem...in fact, on a HT is where you should start to get your skills correctly! Which again takes me down to this gorgeous beauty!...if being exclusive and creative is what we are talking about...and the reviews are amazing... enduro-mtb.com/en/kingdom-vendetta-boost-review-beauty-beast/

Yes...the Foxy...but also a Patrol, a Scott Genius...the Rocket would probably hold its value better in fact!? If value for money is also important, I would always go Canyon!

I've not gone down the buy direct route... As I'd never recommend it!.. Well...I did...kind of!...twice! With Van Nicholas and now with Kingdom! I also know a few people who bought YT and Canyon's and never had issues...also know a few who bought at lbs and had! It's all relative and usually you only hear/read the bad experiences on the web, which tend to be a minority! But of course, it's always a higher risk!

Well... I'd not bother taking a risk, unless I thought it was necessary... But I understand what you mean.

I'm really surprised you don't ride a Rocket tbh! Keep the fatty, sell all others and get that exclusive Rocket! It's geo/look is similar to the Hex! I would have gone that way I think if it wasn't for the Ti addiction! Lol Next bike... The Orange P7 RS arrives in the next 2 weeks... In the limited.. Enduro Salmon colour.. What made you go Orange rather than Cotic? Also for that sort of money for an HT, you could have had a Vendetta II?!??!?!!?

I had the Original P7 as a kid and loved it.. so a bit retro involved.. and with Orange.. for £100 you get a full powder coat and re-decal.. and it's Reynolds...

I know what you mean...it's a bit like Ti...that old school feeling, design lines and material feel! 100 quid to get a "new" bike and change the colour if you get bored, is very cheap!

It's been a while since I started this thread and I've done lots of reading of reviews and stuff, as I wasn't sure that I was doing the right thing getting an orange but last week I put my order down on a orange five pro with rs finishing kit a dropper seat post can't wait although it may not technically be the best bike for the money I think it's going to give the most enjoyable riding experience and is strong and reliable honestly can't wait.
