Don't really give a flying fuck what you think to be honest ... I'm giving my opinion on a bike that I test rode fairly recently ...if you paid attention you would see that it wasn't too long ago ( when they changed to 650b wheels) ... Hope you are happy with your choice ... We should get you to welcome all new members this way Not a bad idea son.. It's OK for someone to level a heavy dose of sarcasm at me without being able to respond is it ...? I was giving an opinion ...isn't that what forums are for ... If you care to check I was very welcoming at the time...

Kersh - don't be so defensive mate. The Orange is the classic 'marmite' bike. Those who have one love them, others of us just can't be getting on with the looks - it's really no big deal, as long as you love it, why give a flying one?
I own 2 bikes - both of which have been described to me as a bit fugly - does it worry me? not one bit. Do I think there are better bikes out there? course I do.
Do I think I need to get rid of my 2 bikes (which I love) because someone else doesn't like the lines, or the paint, or the geometry? Do I feck.
Opinions are like arseholes, we've all got one, personally, I like to hear other peoples opinions - good or bad.

Agreed lads, everyone will have a different opinion on bikes that’s the entire point of having different brands / styles / colours. Same goes for all aspects of life, cars, food and hobbies etc. If everyone liked the same thing we would be a right boring bunch would we not? If you take my Banshee for example, people might not like the looks or performance because its alloy, its heavier than new carbon ££, the rear triangle looks like it’s made from steel girders and the frame looks thin. However, I like it and that’s why I bought it. I would still like to know other peoples opinion on it though whether they are good / bad / indifferent. Mate, if you like the Orange then buy it. You will be happy with it as it’s something that you want to own and not something that has been bought due to s spec sheet. That’s how I like to spend my hard earned cash, because I like the thing I am buying. In my opinion I was on the bench about them. Didn’t “like” or “dislike them”. Having been about MTB a little bit longer now I am starting to like them more and more due to the way they divide opinions and have that sort of industrial look like the Banshee. Whatever you decide be sure to get some pictures up when you do get it .

Orange manufacture great bikes, with even better warranty..zero reliabilty or quality issues.. and thats the sole reason ive bought many of them over the last 15 years... i believe the quality is very fair for the financial outlay... unlike Santa Cruz.. which ive also purchased, and sold very quickly.. buy what you like... wether it be cheap..expensive...a manly Fatbike, or a Ghey cheating ebike...

FWIW I like the Five - very industrial looking, looks pretty indestructible and is also pretty iconic. Back in the day (when I was a student/Halfords Cycle mechanic) I always wanted an Orange Clock Work.
I have a mate who has a Five and he loves it (like those on here who have one), yes there are 'better' (subjective term....) bike around, there are prettier bikes around, there are also some fugly bikes (Mondraker anyone??) - but if you like it f##k everyone else.
I can't comment really as I have a 'Halfords bike' and a semi assembled Nukeproof Mega. Oh and both of them have old fashioned 26" wheels.....
If it's a bike you like, it gets you out and can cope with the abuse/rides/level of skill/confidence you have then that's all that matters. We're all on here for the same thing - we like to ride and talk about bikes.
Get some pictures up!!

Wow! How quickly did this turn?!? I don't think Hodgy's comment before was in any way offensive or harsh!? Just an opinion on Orange which like stated above, a bit like Marmite! For the record, Santa Cruz bikes look and are awesome from what I've been told...just a shame you see a lot of fat blokes who can't really ride on them just because they can...but then again, that's a bit like all of us...besides Peaty rides them and for that reason alone, they are cool! Banshee's are awesome...look a bit rugged, but so does my bike and that's what I like! Also you don't see many of them... The Orange P7 in pink is lovely...
...now move on, let's all enjoy our bikes!

I don't like oranges but I do like apples
On a more serious not, I do like Orange bikes, I think they are pretty much indestructible and I would happily own an Alpine 160, the unfortunate thing with Orange is that you can get more bike for your money else where.

Jack would probably disagree on reliability...maybe not in terms of customer service since he got a "new" bike after a few weeks waiting! But in the end of the day, do you guys know of any bike that never had a problem at some point?...if it has been abused properly? Not talking about 3-4-5k bikes that spend their time around Sherwood Pines...if that!?

I do wonder, as a business in a world of carbon bling that is cheaper and cheaper, and other direct-sale brands that offer better value for money, how long will they last? Unless they change a bit their business model!? There is a good interview on Enduro-Mtb website about Orange...

They do have a massive brand loyal custom base - but that will be whittled away in time. Orange have been one of the top dogs for a long time now - but other bike manufacturers are overtaking them in build and price and even desirability.

The carbon spectral has got to be the best looking and one of the most capable trail bikes out there, I had the alloy version for a while but bought the wrong size so it never lasted too long

It's true - and it's where British companies (like Orange and Bird) will always win over the direct sales, mainland Europe bikes.
I myself have had trouble over warranty issues on the Chief - not helped by the fact you can't deal face to face.

Me neither, it seemed constructive criticism. People don't like hearing negative things about their bikes sometimes. Water off a ducks' back to me. You buy it for a reason, that should be good enough. All bikes are different for a reason. But what you like or sell it on. I hear you about the SC bikes......all potential customers You'd only care if some one said your bike was heavy Basiclly everyone should of bought buzz lightyear bikes from argos because you literally can't pick a fault with them

Oi are you saying my bikes fugly then??? That's you off my xmas card list! Didn't say it is fugly...or even ugly...but I've never been keen on bikes like that for some reason...until the Canyon...which also has the shock upside down which looks a better idea straight away! I'm trying my best to convince you to get that Switch!? Lol
