Mate, I'm no gap jumper! But there are some nice places where you can either roll or take off...but not the dangerous kind. There is a nice section Called craggs which is rocky/slabby and cool...there are a few steep sections (one of them is 8-10 foot almost vertical but you can roll which is cool) berms, lots of roots, etc...not sure I agree with Glynn...it looks to me like you can ride there for days...so many runs everywhere, which is why it's important to go with someone in the know...you can defo have a good time and workout because you have some good techy climbs besides fire roads.

That is funny and such rookie mistake?! How did you not check first, while you were checking the direction?! The bike tart, same tyres is expected and understandable, of course! Good on you for admitting g it! I've read mixed reviews about those tyres...apparently the first version was shit but much improved on the second (assume yours)!

I've never had fully waterproof shorts, but again I won't pay above 50 quid for a pair...in fact I've just ordered some TLD Moto from CRC because they are at a good price. I have some RaceRace with DWR coating which are less than 40 quid at Tredz (with their 5quid off code) that are a bit repellent until things get really wet!?

I bet loads of RS fanboys will want to get the Lyrics...don't need to say it, but yeah, your forks are totally unsuitable for the Nuke beast. You could try and give TFTuned a ring and ask if they have anything second hand...maybe even one of their mechanics.

After a not so good experience with the over the bars lever and the new Fox one, decided to invest in this one from zee Germans. First impressions when I got it were much better than the web images...didn't actually realised it was full alloy. Feels really solid and fit for purpose. Not cheap, but so isn't the Fox one. Main advantage to this one is the integration with Shimano i-spec for a clean cockpit. Many other options and loads of adjustments. They also do a version to make the Reverb mechanically operated so no more bleeding required.

I would look and keep looking on Pinkbike until some second hand Pikes come on.

Guys... I'm doing Wharny again this Sunday at 9am...after convincing Nick to do it again before it gets too boggy. Feel free to join me if you want...it's a wicked ride with some tough climbs, little challenges and good descents, from flowy, rocky, gnarly, drops, jumps...it's wicked!

Lol... Mine had a problem which is very easy to resolve...a bit of loctite on the collar thread...could have done it myself...however it was sent back to Thomson who sorted it out straight away. I do think it was probably due to spraying Fork Juice on the stanchion everytime after a ride. However, if I'm honest, I just wanted to get the new Fox and took that opportunity. But if you ask me my honest opinion, the Thomson is better than the Fox.

Thomson does 31.6 and 30.9 but expensive of course! However, you pay what you get for!?

what i have been doing for ages is, add some of the SIS Go Hydro tablets inside...tastes nice and gives you what you need on a ride...when i get home, make sure you drink it all (or remove all the liquid) and put the bladder on the freezer. It stops bacteria/smell. My bladder is a Vaude that came with a cleaning brush, but I've never used it.

Cool steed. Shock...you need to adjust the compression settings so it doesn't have much bob on small bumps or while you pedal, but I'm sure you know that...good luck!? lol I'm doing Gisburn next month...ill let you know.

G you've got me thinking now. If kirky doesnt make the macc forest ride and it stays dry this week, i might do wharny instead. We'll see what happens I'd say, go there instead anyway! Lol But I hope you know where you're going otherwise you and John will have to Brokeback Mountain in the woods...easy to get lost!

Not really Glynn...I just followed Nick. It's very easy to get lost there because it all looks the same. I'm sure a few bits/runs I know but not all of it. Defo, wharny is proper cool. Loved it and I can just imagine it on a nice and dry summer's day!? Glad I had that Magic Mary on the front today!?

Did you do the huge slabs going over the tops? It's a good section but your buggered by the end of it. yup...that one is the one called Crags...a mix between The Beast and Stanage Edge...very enjoyable...you just need the right momentum and speed.

Certainly some proper full on downhill runs there, but we also did some runs where guys were on DH steeds and I thought they were overkill TBH. Don't get me wrong, if anyone doesn't like techy descents, it's not the place for you...specially with the mud, wet roots and rocks today. But for example, IMHO in comparison to the Beast or Cavedale (as a reference) it's a lot more enjoyable and I think less dangerous. I thought it was great, we did 4 or 5 descents (only remember the name of one, Crags I think) and it was all great! One of the runs had this 8-10 foot vertical section...lol...all rollable but certainly grabs your attention...lolApparently there are dozens and dozens of runs. Some good climbs too! In the summer I'll be there all the time for sure!

Today i had the pleasure to be shown around these woods by some usual riders. Probably one of the last opportunities to ride there before it gets too boggy.
Given the fact that its only 4 miles away from my house, its stupid that it took me this long to try it really (I did a small night ride there a few weeks ago but had to be cut short soon due to torrential rain), but you really need to go there with people who know it well, otherwise you can get lost very easily and not have as much fun. So today, at 7-30am, i set off riding from my house to meet the lads.
What a great ride, full of nice descents, technical, rocky, flowy, some nice berms and jumps, some techy climbs and obstacles...the lot! Not easy but a lot of fun...We really are spoiled for choice around Sheffield...and once again it makes me think that IMHO, there is much better riding at the Peaks besides the usual rides around Ladybower, etc.
If you ever get the chance, do it! Or maybe we should organise a forum ride there in the spring/summer.

Gonzalo, Have you still got chance to do a cheeky gisburn visit on your way to or from your lakes meeting? Yup...not this week because I'm taking the missus with me. However I'm supposed to go to Gisburn on the 13th November if you can make it? After that, 23rd or 24th for Gisburn. When is the new steed arriving?

Apparently the 9point8 is the reliable one but at a high cost! It's good to see loads of alternatives coming out...the Shimano one and the BikeYoke one (with a quick bleed self-service button)...the most important thing at the moment with dropper posts is how good their warranty and customer service is...lol
The only reason why the GD post hasn't sold by the millions is because it has a face only a mother can love...and no fancy logo/brand on it no doubt!
