All sorted now, appointment moved to next week, confident I should have at least one bike ready to rip. Still need to do the school run from 2.30PM ish but we would have had enough by then and gives the Southerners chance to head back before the traffic gets heavy.

Yeh it was all a sodden mess. I'll be wearing some different shoes. I rep roofed my jackets and water proof trousers yesterday so hopefully they'll do the job if needed.

BL7 8AB should put you at the bottom of rivington road, then climb the hill and the car park is about half a mike on the left.

Just to be clear on the parking, its where the arrow is located on the below. www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=366359&y=415824&z=115&sv=366359,415824&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=560&ax=366359&ay=415824&lm=0 I've dropped my Enduro in with the local shop this morning to sort a problem I've left since I wrapped it up at Stiniog and it should be ready for collection on Tuesday so I have a more than capable replacement if the Scouts not back in time, in fact I may take the Enduro anyway as its got better tyres for wet conditions and the BB height is more manageable for the many deep ruts that we will encounter.

Still a bit tubby then the 275 is shorter top tube than the previous version which seems a bit in the face of the recent trends.

Glad you got sorted mate, I wouldn't tinker with it tomorrow in case you dislodge something and lose pressure. You won't need it too firm to climb and I doubt you'll blow through until you hit the deep blacks. May be better one the smaller chatter.

Two potential problems I'm afraid to say for Thursday.
I've been waiting for an appointment with a consultant which came in yesterday's post for next Thursday at 3pm, I'm going to try to change it or will need ensure I depart by 1.30pm
Also my dropper broke again and I've left the bike in the lbs this morning to have it warranted and swapped, he needs to get the okay on Monday and hopefully fixed up on Tuesday otherwise I'll be mincing on the hard tail.

That rocky fast flowing stream you mentioned ..would that be the same stretch you took us on that leads to some real nice singletrack following the course of a drystone wall ..quite elevated ..probably wasn't quite so fast flowing a couple of month or so back ... Yes the same bit, it was a little wet when we went down it which was after a week or so of good weather, imagine how wet it was today after pissing it down all week. It was fun mind, some of the remaining single track was good but the cross wind was a bit of a bugger and some bits were a little muddy. The section after the golf club which was a fast flowing narrow corridor last time was deep in leaves and mud and made for some sketchy moments. The choppy drop down after you cut through the farm was running nicely though, just that you dare not brake on the rocky bits or you would be slipping down.

Neil of course I'm not saying that the gnarliness of the descent prompted you to leave a load down there. Just that now any dog shit on any mtb route is now known as Hodge shit.lol.
I must admit that if I hadn't agreed to meet Glynn this morning I may have had a serious rethink about going out and about today, there's not much let up forecast for the weekend unfortunately so I'm glad I got a ride in.

Tenerife is supposed to be awesome mate for mtb, I've never got chance when I've been there but will book a guided day or down hill day with lava trax next time, these guys are very well reviewed. www.lavatrax.com/blog-page/60-general-ramblings/182-2012-lavatrax-design-a-jersey-competitionYou could book a guided tour with them and then a couple of days later follow the same route yourselves so your not scratching around. If you google around no doubt you can find some routes anyway. I think the best stuff though would be uplifted to the top of some mountain and you work way back down some enduro type trails to sea level.

No returned safely just taken a long time to get dry. The only dry part of my body was my feet due to the excellent performance of sealskinz socks but they were still freezing cold. I'm not sure if my jacket kept the rain, hail and sheep shit out or if I was drenched inside out from sweat. Or it could have been from when I went OTB dropping down the steps of a waterfall and went OTB off one drop off when my front wheel disappeared into a deep hole upon landing, thus catapulting me somersault style Into the air and dumped flat on my back in what had become a river. Glynn found it amusing, to be fair it was great fun dropping down through a flowing stream with large ruts and drops which were concealed by the amount of water. Pecketts well was fun with the wet leaves and made for some good side ways moments, I feared crashing into the walls, bushes or the Hodgy shit at times but managed to find some grip just in time to save my bacon. We got off lightly with the wind with it only against us on a couple of areas and not to badly on the climbs. the weather turned for the worse as we climbed up towards the Long causway, with strong wind, hail, then sideways rain which carried on battering us all the way back to Hebden Bridge. I actually got blown off my feet pushing my bike through a sty and the same nearly happened to Glynn with only his or the megas extra weight keeping him planted. Terrible weather but fantastic time! Pleasure as always Glynn. I only risked getting my phone out once to grab a picture of Glynn conquering the notorious Widdop climb which he cleaned with ease. I just had to stop the once to take a photo, honest! Glynn most of the way up the Widdop climb, conquered the belter skelter just got the loose climb to go. At the end of it today we couldn't even rest the usual scenic spot of gorple rocks as the wind was too strong, blowing my visor off. The last corner of the belter skelter. Widdop reservoir.

I thought you were leaving a message that you were on your way to join us then Neil.
I think we are in for a tough one. The wind shouldn't affect us until we are on our way back down hill though, got a feeling it may spoil a couple of the down hill sections and make the feel more like up hill peddling against the wind.

Glynn. I thought we said 9.30 I appreciate though it's difficult to bail an exact ti do when your travelling a distance. I ll aim to be somewhere between the two so hopefully we can get underway and be up most of the climb age by the time the gales come.

It's normally a simple operation which you could get the service centre to do whilst servicing the fork.
Or do you get rid of the fork when it needs a service?
I've never had a fork long enough to warrant a full service but will hopefully do with the scout.

10mm longer fork, translates to 5mm increase in bb height and half a degree slacker head angle.
