I'm interested but that's one early get up for a 9.30 start. How about we bring lights and do the last hour potentially as a night ride if need be?
Just need to check my wife's off duty to make sure she's not working the weekend, will know towards the end of next week.
Ps how does the route hold when it's wet?

I expected it was an helmet he also used on the roadie/cx which he told me about and I thought about his off on the ride home and that he would be better off with an helmet with some lower protection.
I wouldn't mention it if I didn't think he was a sound bloke.

I noticed Paul is still sporting the roadie type helmet. The lack of coverage scares me somewhat. He fell and hurt is lower part of his head at grizedale.
He was talking of maybe getting a new bike, Neil can you talk him into a trail type helmet at the same time it will be 50/60 pounds well spent if it prevents an injury.

Sorry the spark could be considered an all round trail bike however at 11.5kg and 120mm travel relative to the genius 160mm travel and a kilo heavier due to a burlier frame, I put the spark more towards xc and the genius all mountain.

Should be fine mate if we start at 10am, should be 3.5 to 4 hours max, even if we get back to the cars at 2.30/2.45 which will be 4.5 hours you should be okay. I need to do the school collection as well so need to be away at the same time.
If anybody wants to start any earlier to avoid traffic problems let me know.

I'll be there all being well, I can show you some unmarked bits and make sure you find the hope line and some other must do bits. We are hoping you will show us some cheeky bits Rather disappointingly they aren't actually that many cheeky bits, there's a few sections that make up the pmba but most are shut off or would be pretty up rideable in bad weather. One uses the downhill line which I wouldn't take a large group down without knowing their abilities to be honest I'm not up to most of it and would most likely break something. The standard 8 trail would bypass the hope line which is definately worth a climb up the fairly short but steep fire road to come back down it. The section roundie refers to is quite easy to find and is pretty good but would be a nightmare if wet, which is likely. most of gisburn is none too difficult but it's quite techy in places and makes for the odd tumble here and there. There are some more challenging bits which can be included, sessioned or by passed.

Just to add some clarity after having two rides mixed up in the Calderdale thread. This will be a combination of loops around the Rivington area on Thursday the 19th November , suggested start 10am. meet up on Rivington road which is a left at the black dog pub on the a675 Belmont. The car park is on the left after passing a small res as you climb up Belmont road, it's shown on the far left on the map below. www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Rivington+Rd,+Belmont,+Bolton+BL7+8AD/@53.6355045,-2.4993129,17z/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x487b0a16c91fd5a3:0xefd7715d928e6dee From here it's a fairly short road climb up to the lanes that lead upto rivington Pike. It means we can finish with the San Marino descent and only have a bit of a climb up afterwards. speaking of the San Marino here's a clip of some geezer going down there earlier this year. So far we have myself, Glynn, Gaz and Andy. Any one else fancy it?

Looking doubtful for tomorrow, currently feel like I've been hit by a bus and it didn't go down to well when I tested the water with the mrs, it's fine for me to nip out in the morning whilst they do gymnastics swimming club activities but expect me home when they get back at 1pm so looks like a local ride if any.

Took this shot on the way out of Agra yesterday, away from the 5 star hotels and the tourist sites this is as good as it gets. I'm quite pleased with the picture content wise but mostly as it made me reflect on how much I get and I guess a lot of us can get hung up on materialistic stuff and striving to replace things just because there maybe something slightly better available. By comparison this guy relies on his bike for work, most likely cycling 50/60 miles a day through necessity on something we would consider scrap. They just botch up and repair as needed for many a year. It's all relative guys.

Yeh I think we'll have to climb up widdop as the back of gorple options going to be too muddy. Glynn likes a climb any way, Gaz is riding rivington not hebden bridge isn't that right? Hebden next Friday and rivington the following Thursday.

Okay I'll pencil the 19th and try and avoid working on that day my boss (well for the next 6 weeks) has lined me up a few appointments without consulting me recently so I'll have to make sure he leaves the 19th alone. I tend to know the plan for the week on the Friday before or latest on the Monday.

Should get there gaz. I would suggest to be even more worth the trip to first do a loop of Clapham which is 30 minutes away. Some good descents and a great bit of aimgletrack bridle way.
Brew and sand which and onto gisburn for a loop of the 8 with the hope line chucked in.

That's a long weekend. When does your 15 off spell end?
I will probably have a day off next week if you fancy a trip up, I'll do rivi on Tuesday or Wednesday and Calderdale with Glynn on Friday and then rivi again the following mid week with gaz and Glynn.
I'm fitting my working days around my riding days as long as I can get away with it.

Feck me your up early!
I prefer wed or Thursday, if it's the three of us and we can make any of those then we could just wait until the Monday before and pick the day with the least rain and wind, it's okay there in the rain but of course more pleasant without it.
Can Zulu or beans make it up with you Gaz, I'm sure they'll enjoy the area for a bit of a change.

Can do the originally planned Rivington ride any day Tuesday to Thursday the following week eg 17th to 19th if gaz and Glynn can agree a date I will stick it up for others to join.

I'm pretty sure it will be intuitive and you'll feel a lot more confident on the fun stuff. I've read it climbs great and is agile all round. Having the pikes over revs is good news. Is it enduro orange?
