Booked the day off for this John so will be there. Unlike marmite who tells fibs about his fitness I will be blowing out may arse as I have only done 6 miles in the last 6 weeks. Trying to get up there at weekend to get a few miles in and one night this week. Plans for tonight had to change due to work, again! Are you about Saturday or Sunday for a practice? At least with it being rivington if I fail badly on Thursday I know my way back to car gently. Drop me a text if you are about at weekend. That's good mike, there's a reasonable size group in the making now which makes for more break opportunities. At least theres not too much at rivi that's overly steep. I will try for Saturday or Sunday morning but not sure what state my legs will be in. I'll let you know by Friday at some point.

I didn't notice the wind, hopefully it will be behind us. Well at least some of the time.

Exactly I don't want to understate constantly how fit I feel, however the reality is once the weather turns I don't tend to have many days where I feel tip top, kind of a perpetual cold due to this reflux problem that I just can't get to the bottom of. After a few weeks of the bike it feels like a 30 mile hilly ride is beyond me. The drop of temperature for mid to high thirties to 10/12 degrees isn't helping as I was hit by sore throat muzzy head a couple of days after I got back, not a proper cold more of an annoyance.
Anyway onwards and upward and all that, hopefully I will feel better when I get back into it. Planned rides for tomorrow (short flat one), Friday long hills one, Saturday recovery ride, Tuesday medium ride, Thursday rivi with the guys then Saturday hopefully something testing if all goes well. Should hopefully have some miles under the belt by the borrowdale bash, I tend to find it a bit easier on the larger group rides as the rests are more regular and longer than when I ride solo or with a smaller group.

Fridays weather has changed from the deluge forecast earlier this week to clear (date I say sunny) through the day with the only rain forecast from 6 yay!!
Some strongish winds though but let's hope it's behind us going up the climbs. Don't want to sound like Gaz but having not ridden much since grizedale when I was blowing out of my arse I really don't know where my fitness is at and the Calderdale loop can be testing at the best of times. It's all good though and I need some good stiff rides under the belt before I meat up with beans and co next week.

www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Rivington+Rd,+Belmont,+Bolton+BL7+8AD/@53.6353482,-2.4984694,17z/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x487b0a16c91fd5a3:0xefd7715d928e6dee Funny that I just cut and pasted it into the google Browser and it's showed Rivington road, Belmont as expected. The black dog pub Belmont postcode is BL7 8AB just turn up the hill from there past the warble res on your left and the car park is a small one with two openings on the left as the hill flattens out slightly a few hundred metres up from the church/pub.

Those ruts two thirds of the way down catch most people out now that they are so deep.i think the line is now to the right, it's such a long section and my memories shit so I can never remember the right lines.

Yeh I enjoyed that. Suddenly ripping past your riding buddies.
Poor etiquette though really, I tend to squeal my brakes until I'm invited past.

Let's hope the weather improves, it's been biblical around my way today with little let up forecast all week. 50mph winds forecast tonight and into tomorrow. Looking forward to more of xc type ride in the lakes taking in more of the stunning scenery.

9.45am ready to get cracking would be good, if we aim for that then if anybody gets stuck in traffic and are 30 minutes late it will still be fine. There's just not much to do at this meetng point.

No probs once the three of you have a good idea let me know. I know it's not an exact science when you take the M6 into account but hopefully your going against the flow of the morning rush.

Not sure how great the M62 is at the time of the morning though, you might be better heading over the back way towards Colne/Burnley and then pick up the M65 and come off after Blackburn for the a675.

nice one Mike.
Well see what time Gaz and Glynn are happy to start at as they have the furthest to travel, Im not sure if theres a benefit to starting a bit earlier to avoid peak tiem traffic at the start of the journey up or if starting a little later allows to miss it.

Keswick blimey that's a bit of a drag but hopefully should be worth it. Normally plenty of parking along side the park road and always lots of space on the pencil museum car park.

Some of the sections were pretty good a couple were just over indulgent in special effects too much slow mo etc. some good riding though and makes you just want to get out there.
Second thoughts it's far too windy and wet today.
