What does the £ 15.00 cover ? We don't have Leisure Lakes days in this part of the world but it's not uncommon to pay a fee to demo a bike for the day with a lbs ...which is then knocked off the purchase price if you decide to buy . If the £15.00 is to cover an individual trying out a range of bikes ..then personally I don't think that's too bad .. If it's just for the privilege of talking to them ..then sod that !

£5.00 to Chase Trails and £5.00 to the Air Ambulance. Quessing the other £5.00 goes to Leisure Lakes which seems fair as they've orangised it and have costs associated with it.

I suppose if you are 100% in the market for a new bike then you'd pay it - at least knowing that some of the money is going to a good cause.
I do think though that they are going to put the casual 'just want a look' types right off though.

It will probably improve the experience to be fair. The guys and girls who just fancy trying some exotic gear are hogging potential sales from those genuinely interested. If I ever did a demo day I would fall into the casual category myself!

don't they set up a pump track and a big jump onto an air bag where you can have a bash. I suppose it all costs.

Needless to say I won't be paying to ride a bike I can't afford, never seen the point, tbh.

Why though? If I've got no intention of buying a bike why ride it? I can have a fun day out just riding what I own? I just don't get it at all and probably wouldn't do it if it was free S'pose we all have different ideas on what's fun and what isn't. Edit - I know my Mrs certainly has

I can sort of see where Gaz is coming from but to have to pay 15 quid for the privilege of them getting a sale off me is bad enough - but to pay it and have no intention of buying a bike just doesn't compute with me I've only ever test rode 2 bikes in my life and they were bikes I bought (Chief and Bird) - perhaps I'm a bit worried about having my head turned by some all carbon, singing and dancing 2 wheeled floozy

I understand the very basic principles of geometry...bit not exactly all angles, and how 1 degree or a few mm longer/shorter can have such a huge implication on how a bike rides!? I do wonder if there is a bike out there with the perfect geometry and figures?

I don't think it's a bad idea to charge at a demo day. If it was free then it could result in a free for all and trashed bikes. By charging, you limit the numbers to people who are a bit more interested. As for not being in the market so why bother...if you have an interest in bikes is it not nice to try others given a chance. Even if it is only to find you are happy with what you have. I don't get to try too many bikes so would happily pay to try a few that may or may not interest me. If someone offered me a go of a Ferrari for a few quid the I would jump at the chance. I ain't ever going to own one, not wanting one either, happy with what I have but would be nice to see what the fuss is about. That's worth a couple of quid to me.

Demo bikesWhat kind of Inn are you frequenting to pay £1 a pint?! Actually I dont want to know or go there Personally I have no beef giving money to the Air Ambulance, its the MTB equivalent of sailing types giving money to the RNLI. However I do find it amusing that peeps would pay money to go ride a bike that will make their current bike feel old and in need of replacement!

One pound = one lager voucher, how many vouchers for a lager varies, this is basic pisshead maths, do try and keep up
