Just bought a new set of pads for myself, went with Hope ones, 2 reasons: first being their brakes have been tested with their own pads and secondly I don't think there's any 3rd party that makes E4 pads yet..

Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Also hope you caught the crash on the camera.

Worked it out in the end, chain length was too short so when the rear swingarm came up over half it's travel in the large cog it would be too taught and weaken. Thus it snapped. As for the cog skipping issues, some screws on the mech had come a little loose so were throwing off the chain.
Was going to ride today, but it's absolutely hammering it down here, don't fancy risking the roads when it's like this.

Having an Orange Five myself, I'd say go with the Alpine 160. I really can't deny the fact I'd love a Santa Cruz though, have you thought maybe about a Yeti/Mondraker/Commencal/etc?

I think part of that may be down to YouTube nuking the quality. I uploaded a clip straight from the GoPro to YouTube and it didn't look nearly as good as it did before the upload.

So on the final run of BPW on Monday my chain snapped, but I'd been having issues with my rear mech from about lunch time with only 2 gears available, shifter just didn't seem to be talking to the mech.
Having finally had chance to get the bike up on the stand to look at it, the cable isn't broken and I've given everything (cassette and chain) a good soak in degreaser and taken the rear mech off and taken a toothbrush to it to get any wedged in dirt out.
Now it's back on I've got more issues, I can move the full range of gears, except the chain now skips from cog to cog, not just up one, but down one, so it's skipping across 3 cogs and certain links are clipping against the cog above and causing a clicking noise when going at low speeds. I've tried adjusting everything on the mech I can to try and sort this, so far, nothing.
I would really not prefer to have to buy a new rear mech as the X9's aren't overly cheap. Nor are the Shimano counterparts.

I wouldn't trust that to protect my face falling off a kerb, let alone a full crash. Takes 5 seconds to attach? It'll take a lot longer to remove all the shards from your face.
If you need a fullface, take one with you on your backpack.

Cwmcarn is a brilliant set of trails, I've done the Twrch trail twice now, it has some excellent technical climbing sections which once you reach the top has some brilliant fun downhill sections (video link at the bottom) after that there's a little more climbing (nothing too serious) for a penultimate downhill section which is fast and tight as hell, final little climb and bam, final decent into the carpark, seriously fast.

I've just been sent a video from my mate I was up there with, he's put together a little edit. I'm the one on the neon green bike with the neon orange shorts.. Oh, my mate also has a pretty epic crash at the end. It's worth it.

Given I'm neither a pro racer, nor do I have the winning lottery ticket, I reckon I'll be waiting 5 years for this tech to trickle down to an affordable level.

Norkle, which pretty much immediately breaks off to the left into Zut Alors, which in turn leads on to the trail to the uplift. I've got some more which I need to upload, just finding the time to be bothered.

Loved the videos man! Got a couple myself from Monday, really enjoyed it! It rained quite heavily during the morning making the trails a little slippery. Was rather fun. On my Instagram there's a video of me bailing on Vicious Valley. Anyway, on with the videos, one has music and the other I uploaded straight from the GoPro:

Went out to the local woods ahead of our trip to BPW so we could get a little warmed up with whats to come. Here's some of the results:

I was out riding the local DH tracks today, last few times I've been it's been super dry, which while fun has gotten a little dull.. Today however, I was skipping and sliding all over the rocks!
I've got some videos I'm going to put up in a bit showing it off, excellent fun!

They should do, might still be able to find it on their site as it now comes in some package thing which had few other creator type things in (photo editing etc). May be worth looking at their site. Update: windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-live/movie-makerClick the download link, it'll detect what OS you're running (XP in your case) and download the Windows Essentials 2009 package which will have movie maker in. Should give you the option to veto the other parts of software during installation if you don't want them.

I think you are the only person who still uses it!
I've got to say though, if your PC is old enough to be running XP, I heavily doubt it has enough processing power to play back 1080p/720p video straight from the camera, which means processing it will take a millennium. But, if you're just after something to compress it and upload it to YouTube, Windows Movie Maker would be your best bet, it's free and best of all, it's not going to be filled with toolbars for your browser and all manner of other nice things.

My Five had a 70mm (or 90mm, I can't remember) as standard as it felt like I was trying to turn a oil tanker. Stuck a 40mm stem on and the thing whips round corners like a ferret on crack.

Fully rigid ,heavy, corners like a cart horse and seemed to get heavier the more the ride went on ..didn't enjoy the experience at all.. But it was all that was on the cards today .... I always seem to end up with my hire ride having dodgy wheels. Would have thought they could have trued them once in a while!

Kind of what's already been said, your weight looks to be quite far back on the bike, try and get more forwards. Looked like your compression before the jump was a little late, try compressing just as the incline to the jump happens and not on the lip, hopefully that should give you more air time.

Zulu, I'm impressed by your restraint there! I'd have probably not been so calm given how long this has been going on! Hoping it gets sorted for you soon.
